Traditional Two-year MBA

Most students choose to pursue the traditional two-year MBA. The first year is typically designed to provide students with a general foundation in business, and usually consists of courses in management, finance, marketing, operations, economics, strategy and technology. At some programs, all students take the exact same courses the first year.

The advantage here is that it gives students the opportunity to get to know one another. The disadvantage is the lack of flexibility. During the second year of business school, students pick from a group electives. Some programs require students to pick a concentration, while most programs nowadays allow students to simply pick courses commensurate with their interests. Many will even allow students to cross-register in classes at other graduate programs at the campus.
