The Financial Statements

Companies produce financial statements as a record of company performance. Internal and external stakeholders use financial statements to judge the company's past performance and future prospects.

Income Statement
Balance Sheet
Statement of Cash Flows
    Financials are used by the following parties:
  • By management to evaluate past performance
  • By potential investors to evaluate past performance and future growth prospects
  • By potential acquirers before an M&A transaction
  • By the board of directors to evaluate management’s performance

Publicly-traded firms are required to make periodic filings of financial statements:

Type of Filing Timing Deadline
10-K Annually Must be filed within 60 days
10-Q Quarterly Must be filed within 35 days
