LIFO Inventory Valuation

LIFO, or Last In First Out inventory valuation, bases cost of goods sold on the last inventory bought and values inventory based on the oldest inventory. In rising prices, LIFO results in a lower inventory valuation and higher cost of goods sold. The higher COGS results in lower net income.
