FIFO Inventory Valuation

FIFO, or First In First Out inventory valuation, bases cost of goods sold on the first inventory bought and values inventory based on newer inventory. In rising prices, FIFO results in a higher inventory valuation and lower cost of goods sold. The lower cost of goods sold results in higher net income.
